The ice-breaking ship has an arrangement for revolving the ship hull. the starboard and port side have vertically arranged icebreaking arrangements for optical operation and contact with ice. The impact forces generated on both sides of the bow break ice. The adjusting arrangements are actuated so that vertical ice breaking surfaces are brought into contact with the ice. The ship travels forward and the out-of-balance forces are generated between the ice and the ship bull sides for revolving.
