PURPOSE:To transfer data at a high speed by subjecting the code due to key depression on a keyboard to code conversion and subjecting a graphic inputted to a tablet with hand-writing to character recognition and code conversion and transmitting them to a host computer. CONSTITUTION:An input device consists of a keyboard 1, a host computer 2, a controller 4, and a tablet 5. The controller 4 consists of data transfer circuits 41 and 42, ROMs 43 and 44, a RAM 45, and a microprocessor 46. The ROM 43 is provided for key arrangement conversion, and the ROM 44 is provided for hand-written character recognition, and the RAM 45 is provided for temporary storage of calculation results. Thus, the key arrangement on the keyboard 1 is changed optionally, and hand-written input characters of the tablet 5 are subjected to code conversion and are transmitted to the host computer 2.
