发明名称 OPTICAL MEMORY DEVICE USING LIQUID CRYSTAL
摘要 PURPOSE:To enable an electrical or an optical rewriting, and enable an optical non-destructive reading by mounting the 1st and the 2nd dielectric thin films on the inner side of at least one or the both of electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A pair of translucent electrodes 4, 4' are provided on the inner surface of the translucent substrates 3, 3', respectively. The floating charge trapping center layer (FTL) 5 is interposed between the electrodes of the liquid crystal device which is formed facing the inner surfaces of the electrodes 4, 4'. The charge trapping center layer (TL) 5-2 is mounted on at least one or the both of the electrodes through the 1st conductor film 5-1, respectively, thereby isolating electrically the TL 5-2 from each electrodes 4, 4'. And, th e TL 5-2 is covered with an another dielectric film 5-3, whereby the TL 5-2 is covered with an another dielectric film 5-3, whereby the TL 5-2 or the FTL 5 is provided with the electrode, isolating it from the liquid crystal 6. The FTL 5 and the filled liquid crystal 6 are isolated by the conductor film 5-3 so as not to directly contact with each other. Thus, the direction of the orientation of the ferroelectric liquid crystal which is isolated from the FTL 5, is determined according to a kind of the charge which is implanted, trapped and held to the FTL 5 in the prescribed electrical field.
