PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a quick noiseless reproduction by clamping a tracking start voltage impressed on a piezoelectric actuator on a voltage corresponding to the position of a head executing normal reproduction. CONSTITUTION:At the time of normal reproduction, a waveform generator circuit 3 inputs a semi-drive voltage V2' with amplitude corresponding to a tape travel speed to the input terminal 13a of a clamp circuit 10. A clamp voltage V0 is impressed on an input terminal 13d from a clamp voltage generator circuit 12 at a timing when a clamp gate pulse signal P is inputted to an input terminal 13c during the reset period of the semi-drive voltage, whereby a drive voltage V4 obtained by clamping the semi-drive voltage V2' on the clamp voltage V0 is impressed on an actuator drive circuit 6. Then since a head actuator 7 displaces the head according to the drive voltage V4, the height of the recording track of the head is always set to that in normal reproduction, thereby executing a noiseless reproduction surely.
