PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance for a belt driving surface without deteriorating the strength, linear expansion coefficient, long-period stability, heat resistance, reduced weight, etc. which are originally provided for the resin pulley by installing a carbon fiber layer as surface layer, in the resin pulley. CONSTITUTION:As the resin 1 used for a resin pulley, suitable is the thermosetting resin, particularly phenol resin, from the viewpoint of strength, dimension stability, durability, heat resistance, etc. Further, as the carbon fiber for forming a surface layer 2, suitable is the nonwoven fabric in which carbon fiber chops are shaped into mat form, from the viewpoint of the easiness in shaping, abrasion resistance, direction performance of abrasion, etc. Since, in the pulley which is prepared by using the nonwoven fabric made of carbon fiber, resin flows sufficiently inside the nonwoven fabric made of carbon fiber in shaping, the resin and the nonwoven fabric are made integrally, and since the resin and the nonwoven fabric exist in integrals form also on the surface of the pulley, the superior abrasion resistance can be obtained.
