PURPOSE:To enable a reduction in storage capacity by the amount corresponding to a relocation register, by retrieving code data in a correction memory from the last end address toward the higher order side, and obtaining a relocating position from the address at which the code data is first detected. CONSTITUTION:When correcting misprinted character, a thermal head 5 is moved to the position of the misprinted character, and the misprinted character is corrected. Then, the head 5 is moved to relocating position, and a relocation key 55 is operated to output a relocation command signal to a CPU 60. In the CPU 60, retrieval of code data at each address in a correction memory 106 is carried out sequentially from the last end address toward the higher order side, based on a relocation control program stored in a program memory 102. When code data is first detected, the address in the memory at which the code is stored is obtained, and the thermal head 5 is moved to a printing position corresponding to a relocation address. Accordingly, it is made possible to resume printing at an original position, after relocation.
