PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of power generation per unit element, by enlarging the diameters of an emitter and a collector to a tip and by enlarging the tip section. CONSTITUTION:A hot shell 1 forming the external shell of a cylindrical thermionic element consists of the three 1a-years of silicon carbide 2, graphite 3, and tungsten 4, and the internal tungsten functions as an emitter. Inside the emitter 4, a semi-spherical Ni collector 6 is set via a space 5. The respective diameters of the emitter 4 and the collector 6 are enlarged as they are directed to the tip, and the tip is formed in a enlarged shape. In the internal section of the collector 6, an air-feeding pipe 7 for feeding air for cooling the collector 6 is set. Thermal expansion difference between the emitter 4 and the collector 6 is absorbed by bellows 32, 34.
