PURPOSE:To enhance recording density and suppress the generation of curling, by forming a paper base from a raw paper comprising a white pigment and a polymer latex in specified proportions. CONSTITUTION:A paper base is formed from a raw paper comprising not less than 10wt% of a white pigment internally added and a polymer latex having a minimum film-forming temperature (MFT) of not more than 40 deg.C in an amount of 5-30wt% based on the amount of the pigment, and a thermal color forming layer is provided thereon. The white pigment may be an inorganic pigment such as talc, clay, kaolin, calcined kaolin, diatomaceous earth and barium salfate or an organic pigment such as urea-formaldehyde resin and an acrylic resin. The polymer latex, serving as a reinforcing agent, may be an SBR latex, a carboxyl-modified SBR latex or the like. The raw paper is made from a mixture of the above raw materials by a Fourdrinier paper machine or a cylinder paper machine. Resultantly, the area of contact of this thermal recording paper with a thermal head at the time of recording is increased, and high recording density and a favorable dot reproduction property can be obtained. In addition, the flexibility of the paper base is increased, and the generating of curling is suppressed. |
