High-frequency generator with automatic power control for high-frequency coagulation

The high-frequency generator contains an arc indicating device which detects any presence of an arc between the coagulation probe and the tissue to be coagulated and forms from this an electrical signal. The output power of the high-frequency generator is controlled with the aid of a modulator and a timer in such a manner that it is initially maximum as long as no arc is burning. After an arc has started, it continues to be at a maximum for a particular time and is then controlled to zero for a further particular time. After that, these three states are cyclically repeated for as long as the generator is activated. The invention provides the advantage that the desired coagulation effect occurs as rapidly as possible and, nevertheless, there is no risk of cutting the tissue by the coagulation probe.
