A connecting element for bicycle frames for mounting the saddle support comprises two locking elements which are arranged on the inside of tabs which are located on both sides of an axial slot in the tubular element which receives the saddle support. Those curved end faces of the locking elements which face the tubular receiving element for the saddle support are of the same design as the saddle support so that when the tabs are brought together by tightening the tightening screw, the end faces of the locking elements press against the saddle support and hence ensure a secure engagement.
