PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer which contains an aromatic vinyl compound polymer block and a crystalline trans conjugated diene polymer block and improved characteristics corresponding to purposes, by using a catalytic system containing an organobarium compound, an organolithium compound and an organomagnesium compound. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic vinyl compound (e.g., styrene, etc.,) and a conjugated monomer (e.g., 1,3-butadiene, etc.) are successively polymerized preferably at 50-120 deg.C in the presence of a catalytic system consisting of (A) an organic compound (e.g., barium dinonyl phenoxide, etc.) of Ba or Sr, (B) an organolithium compound (e.g., S-butyllithium, etc.), (C) an organomagnesium compound (e.g., dibutylmagnesium, etc.) of Al or Zn to give toe aimed copolymer. The amount of the catalytic component C is preferably 0.5-5mmol based on 100g of the total monomers, the molar ratio of the catalytic component B/C is preferably 0.5-5 and the molar of the catalytic component A/C is preferably 0.01-1.
