NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R<1> represents (protected) carboxyl or COO<->; R<3> represents (protected) amino; Y represents H or halogen atom; one of W and X represents H and the other represents methyl, methylthiomethyl, cycloalkyl, pyrazolyl, tetrazolyl, 2-oxodihydropyridyl, etc.; R<2> represents pyridinio, thiadiazolylthio or lower alkyl-substituted tetrazolylthio, provided that when one of W and X represents H and the other represents methyl, Y represents halogen atom; when R<1> represents COO<->, R<2> represents pyridinio] and salt thereof. EXAMPLE:7-[1-( 2-Amino-5-chlorothiazol-4-yl )]-1-(Z)-propenecarboxamide-3-(1,3,4- thiazol-2-yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid. USE:An antimicrobial agent. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula (salt) is reacted with a compound expressed by formula III (salt).
