PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of conveyance of a relay conveyance system in which a material is accelerated from its static condition and is relayed onto a conveying device that is driven at a predetermined speed, by providing such an arrangement that the material is moved at a high speed between conveying devices while the feed speed of the material is made to be equal to the speed of the next conveying device and the position of the material is aligned with the latter before the material delivered to the same. CONSTITUTION:When a material 1 in a static condition is conveyed after completion of a predetermined process, a first conveyer device 3 including a motor 2 at first accelerates the material to convey the same. Further, when the position P1 of the front end 4 of the material is displaced by a distance L1, the material is relayed onto a predetermined portion P in a second conveying device 5 including a motor 9. At this time, the motor 2 is controlled by a speed regulating device 7 in accordance with a reference speed value 8 in response to the output of a conveying speed detector 6. Meanwhile the motor 9 is controlled by a speed regulating device 11 in response to the output of a conveying speed detector 10 to a predetermined speed determined by a set value 12. Further, when a detector 18 detects a certain speed difference, the speed reference value 8 is slightly adjusted to perform correcting control for alignment.
