<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform orientation film for a liquid crystal display element prepd. by arranging orientation films of a pair of glass substrate constructed of transparent electrode films and orientation films in layer to face oppositely to each other and packing liquid crystals therebetween to form a liquid crystal display element, by specifying the direction of orientation of molecules on the surface of the orientation film and the depth of the surface unevenness. CONSTITUTION:Each transparent electroconductive films 2 and orientation films 3 are laid on one another on a confronting surface of a pair of glass substrate 1, the orientation film 3 is enclosed by spacers 4 and liquid crystal 5 is packed in a space enclosed by the orientation films 3. Further, a polarizing plate 6 is fitted to one of the confronting external surface of the substrate 1, and a reflecting plate 7 is fitted to another external surface of the substrate 1, to obtain thus a liquid crystal display element. In this constitution, the orientation film 3 is constituted of monomolecular or bimolecular film or cummulative film thereof wherein the major portion o the longitudinal direction of the surface of the material molecules 8 constituting the film is arranged perpendicularly to the substrate 1, and the depth the perpendicular direction to the substrate 1 is regulated to 0.1-100nm to form thus the surface structure uneven. Thus, a uniform orientation film contg. no defect nor unevenness of orientation is obtd. Moreover, the thickness is made to extremely thin thickness.</p> |
