PURPOSE:To improve light weightedness, high strength, and high wear resistance by forming a tooth part in an integrated from with a tooth root part, with a metal base composite material in which a light metal and whiskers or short fiber are compounded, in a gear used in an industrial robot, etc. CONSTITUTION:In a spur gear 3, a tooth part 4 is formed in an integrated form with the tooth root part 6 of a base part 5, with a metal base composite material. The metal base composite material is formed by compounding SiC whiskers as a reinforcing fiber into an aluminum alloy as a base material. And, the inside diameter of the tooth root part 6 is defined as d1, the pitch diameter of the tooth part 4 as d2, and the addendum diameter as d3. The base body part 7 except the tooth root part 6 of the base part 5 is formed with an aluminum alloy, and a shaft center bore 8 with a diameter d0 is formed in this part. And, a bolt installing hole, etc. is also formed on the base body part 7.
