PURPOSE:To prevent the thermal deformation of a thin strip by preliminarily heating the outside peripheral surface of a cooling drum and supplying a molten metal to just behind the same to relieve the temp. gradient of the molten metal in the stage of quick solidification. CONSTITUTION:A burner 7 is provided to the lower side of the side face on a gate 2 side of the cooling drum 1 and a cover 8 is disposed. The molten metal 5 is poured into the gate 2 and the outside peripheral surface of the drum 1 is preliminarily heated by the burner 7 to 500-700 deg.C just prior to the supply of the molten metal 5 onto the outside peripheral surface of the cooling drum 1. The heating with the burner 7 is then stopped and the molten metal 5 is supplied from the gate 2 on the outside peripheral surface of the cooling drum 1 under rotation. As a result, the temp. gradient of the molten metal 5 in the stage of the quick solidification thereof is relieved and the thermal stress to be generated is suppressed within the range of elastic deformation. The thermal deformation of a shin sheet 6 is, therefore, prevented. |
