PURPOSE:To release coagulated glass attached to the inner face of pipe wall and to prevent clogging, by setting a temperature control means to provide an off-gas flow with temperature difference on the pipe wall in the vicinity of an opening of an off-gas exhaust pipe communicated with the interior of a melting tank. CONSTITUTION:An off-gas exhaust pipe 8 is set in a communicated state in a melting tank 1 and a jacket 9 surrounding the vicinity of an opening 8a of the off-gas exhaust pipe 8 is laid in a stuck state to a pipe wall. When coagulated glass G1 is attached to an inner wall face in the vicinity of the opening 8a of the off-gas exhaust pipe 8, cooling water is sent from a cooling water supply system 11 to a flow channel 10 in the jacket 9. Consequently, the pipe wall of the off-gas exhaust pipe 8 and the attached coagulated glass G1 are cooled to cause shrinkage. In the operation, since coefficient of thermal expansion of the off-gas exhaust pipe 8 is larger than that of the coagulated glass G1, the amount of the shrinkage is enlarged, shear is produced between the boundary part of them and the coagulated glass G1 is released from the wall face.
