VITRIFICATION OF POROUS PREFORM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber having low light-transmission loss and excellent band characteristics without deteriorating the profile of a core, by adding specific amounts of SOCl2 and O2 in the vitrification of a porous preform synthesized by a vapor-phase axial deposition process. CONSTITUTION:In the vitrification of a porous preform synthesized by vapor- phase axial deposition process, 1-2vol% SOCl2 and 0.5-1.5vol% O2 are added to the preform.
