PURPOSE:To obtain a picture input system coping with the variance of speed by providing a table having a time series of the scan start signal for transition of the form carrying speed. CONSTITUTION:The time series of the scan start signal which is triggered at the timing of a picture fetching signal from the transition start time of the form carrying speed is stored in a table memory 81. A table control circuit 8 is provided with the memory 81 and an address counter 82. The counting operation is started at the time of a speed transition signal is inputted to a counter 8; and each time the scan start signal is inputted, the counter 82 is counted up, and contents of the memory 81 addressed by the counted value of the counter 82 are outputted to a picture fetching signal circuit 6. The circuit 6 operates a picture reading circuit in accordance with contents of the memory 81 to read scan data. At the time of the speed reaches a certain speed, the speed transition signal is turned off, and the counter 82 is reset, and a gate 9 is so switched that the continuous scan start signal is inputted to the circuit.
