PURPOSE:To easily carry a copying machine with one hand and also to reduce its storage area when it is not used, by projecting only one end part of an original platen from one end of the bottom part of a device body, in a state that the movement of the original platen is obstructed, and providing a handle for carrying, on the side wall of the device body of this projection side. CONSTITUTION:On the side face opposite to the side face on which the handle 42 of a copying machine body 1 is fixed and provided, an original platen locking device 43 is installed to the side face of the body 1 so that it can move up and down freely. When an original platen 2 is locked by using the originals platen locking device 43, in a state that the left end of the original platen 2 coincides with the left side face of the body 1, or at least the left end of the original platen 2 is not projected from the left side face of the body 1, when the device body 1 is turned counter-clockwise with the handle 42, it can be carried easily with one hand by setting the handle 42 to the upper face. Also, on the body side face of the opposite side of the handle 42, a rubber cushion 47 is fixed and provided, therefore, the body 1 can be placed on the ground, etc., as it is in an attitude in which is is held up, and the placing area can be reduced.
