The operating device according to the invention has a voice control (ST) which contains a voice recognition and synthesis unit (SPES). The voice control (ST) is assigned to an operating component (BT) of the telecommunications terminal and allows a telephone connection to be set up through acoustic input of words (subscriber name) and/or digits (telephone number), user guidance being provided by means of synthetically generated speech output.
