PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled wire inexpensively, by machining an outer shell copper of an extruded rod composed of Nb.Ti filled part and said copper to provide a taper, then wire drawing the rod. CONSTITUTION:Many segments composed of an Nb.Ti rod 2 wrapped with a stabilizing copper 3 are filled in a large diameter copper pipe 1, and this is cut under vacuum sealed state to form composite billet. The billet is charged to container in extruding apparatus and extruded to obtain the extruded rod 6 composed of the Nb.Ti filled part 4 and the outer shell copper 5. The rod 6 is machined, e.g. cut or ground, etc., to obtain a processed rod 6' providing taper of a prescribed slant in which the copper 5 is thin at one end and thick at the other end. Next, the rod 6' is wire drawn to reduce the diameter, copper ratio is varied gradually in longitudinal direction in a wire 7 and the titled wire is obtd.
