The subject of the invention is a cold-pressure butt-welding machine with a clamping-jaw and upsetting device. A clamping stroke and upsetting stroke are induced by a single actuating device, the clamping jaws and the upsetting members being moved via an articulated-lever arrangement with angularly mounted articulated levers, and the clamping jaws being arranged on the pivotably mounted upsetting members. The articulated-lever arrangement works on the toggle-lever principle and leads to an increase in ratio of upsetting pressure to clamping pressure, with the result that optimum welding operations are achieved.
