Compositions and methods for stabilized serum based multiparameter standards and controls. Stabilization of the chemistry controls and standards requires the addition of a plexiform stabilizing means such that the final percent concentration is in the range of 2%-8%. The most preferred embodiment employs lactose as the plexiform stabilizing means and chloremphenicol as a microbial growth inhibitor.
