PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure true or almost true running driving force, by providing a buffer fixing mechanism for fixing a vehicle to be tested in a buffering state and the detection member mounted to the buffer fixing mechanism and capable of detecting the forward and backward force of the vehicle to be tested applied to the buffer fixing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle 21 to be tested is supported by or fixed to a buffer fixing mechanism 22 in a buffering state. The running driving force of the vehicle 21 to be tested on a rotary roller 20 is directly detected by a detection member 23 from the car body of the vehicle 21 to be tested through a receiving plate 24. For example, when the vehicle 21 to be tested runs on the rotary roller of a tester, if the forward and backward force of the vehicle 21 to be tested exceeds the spring force of the elastic member 27 of the buffer fixing mechanism 22, the detection member 23 is operated. The pressure to the receiving plate 24 detected at this time by the detection member 23 is not the true forward and backward force of the vehicle 21 to be tested because the elastic member 27 acts. Then, the spring force of the elastic member is subtracted from the forward and backward force, which is measured by the detection member 23, by a pressure detecting operation circuit 28 and the true or almost true forward and backward force of the vehicle 21 to be tested on the rotary roller 20 is obtained to be displayed on a display device 29.
