PURPOSE:To reduce the number of imprinters and mechanisms for preserving a journal output and to miniaturize a device by projecting light on an embossed part in order to imprint, reading its shadow, printing and preserving it as image data. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic reading part sends a card 7 to detect the effect, light sources I and II alternately flicker while a feed roller 10 sends the card 7. An image sensor 11 alternately reads the images of the emboss part 7a, which are caused by the flickering. An emboss reading part 18 synthesizes two set of read-out image data, and stores them in an image data memory 22. The images of the embossed part 7a are sequentially read out, and the operation is terminated after a sensor 12 detects them. During this operation transactions are made, and a receipt is issued. Data in a transaction data memory 21 is synthesized with the contents in the image data memory. A printing part 20 prints the synthesized data in an embossed printing area 14 formed on a receipt paper 14, and stores it in an external memory 24.
