PURPOSE:To obtain a printer capable of a fully-automatically printing to the last line on a paper, by providing a paper-supplying means with a paper- detecting means, and processing a specified code located a the last position of a one-page amount of printing data by a printing device. CONSTITUTION:In a paper-supplying device, a paper-empty condition (PE) detecting switch operates when kicking of the trailing end of the last paper in a paper-supplying tray is completed. Where an automatic sheet feeder (ASF) mode is not set, an operation is finished for each page, regardless of the detection of the PE. When the PE is detected during printing in the ASF mode, a printer continues printing until an 'FF' code is detected. When the 'FF' code is detected, only paper discharging is conducted, and the printer is placed into an offline state. On refilling with paper, the printer is returned into an online state, and a paper-supplying operation is conducted. Accordingly, it is possible to print to the last line on the last page by simple processings on the printer side and on the host side. |
