PURPOSE:To rapidly transfer from a recording operation to a confirming operation, by shifting the start point of each cluster of a disk-shaped medium having a spiral track by a prescribed length in a circumferential direction successively. CONSTITUTION:A sect area 32 formed by shifting the start point of the cluster by a length corresponding to a prescribed number of sectors in the circumferential direction, is utilized as an area to perform the track jump of an optical head. The recording of information is performed, and the optical head arrives at the rear end 31 of a sector Sn, and during a period 32 when the optical head performs the track jump to confirm the recorded information, the optical head is not yet arrived at the tip end 30' of the sector S0. After the completion of the track jump, the optical head arrives at 31', and it is possible to perform a rapid transfer from the recording to the confirmation of the information without performing rotation waiting.
