PURPOSE:To obtain a tire type ultrasonic probe by which an ultrasonic wave is scarcely attenuated, and a reciprocating sound pressure passing rate to a steel plate is large, by forming a tire and a propagation member in front of an ultrasonic vibrator by the rubber made of a butadiene compound or a silicone compound. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic vibrator 2 is attached between a pair of fixed shafts 1. A tire 4 which has an attenuation constant being equal to that of water and oil, and is formed by butadiene compound rubber or silicone compound rubber whose reciprocating sound pressure passing rate to a steel plate is large is attached so as to be freely rotatable to a pair of fixed shafts 1 through a bearing 3 so as to surround the ultrasonic vibrator 2. In front of the ultrasonic vibrator 2, a propagation member 7 formed by butadiene rubber or silicone rubber is attached, and between said member and the tire 4, some gap having an extent that it does not contact is formed, and the gap is filled with a usual contact medium 5 such as water, oil, etc.
