PURPOSE:To form a thin R-DAT by bending by about 90 deg. a tape which has been drawn out of a drum having a revolving shaft parallel substantially to a base, and a cassette, and also, twisting it by about 90 deg., and providing a post guide to be wound around the drum. CONSTITUTION:When a tape is folded vertically once, and also, bent by 90 deg., and a running direction of the tape is set vertically to the first tape surface, the thickness of a reproducing device can be made small. When the tape is run, since a tape 10 is folded, the radius of curvature of a bend of the tape becomes small, the service life of the tape is shortened, and it is necessary to enlarge remarkably the torque of a capstan motor, which is required for its run. Therefore, cylindrical post guides 121-123 are provided on a position where the tape is bent. As for these posts 121-123 fixed or rotary ones can be used, the radium of curvature of a bend of the tape becomes large, the tape runs smoothly, and also, as to the force required for its run, as well, weak force is enough, and the service life of the tape is extended. In this way, the device can be made thin.
