PURPOSE:To eliminate minced vibrations in the vicinity of a focusing point by making a focus adjustment on the basis of the prediction result of a predicted focusing point by using >=3 signals when the levels of signals corresponding to the extent of focusing meet specific requirements. CONSTITUTION:An output means (a) outputs signals corresponding to the extents of focusing to a predicting means (b) in order at a specific period. The means (b) uses >=3 signals outputted by the means (a) to predict a focusing point. A control means (c) makes a focus adjustment on the basis of the prediction result of the means (b) when a signal outputted by the means (a) is larger than a specific threshold value. The means (c), on the other hand, makes a focus adjustment on the basis of the difference between two signals outputted by the means (a) when the signal outputted by the means (a) is smaller than the specific threshold value. Consequently, minced vibrations in the vicinity of the focusing position are eliminated and accurate focus detection is performed. |
