PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking of a dent to a magnetic disk by providing the second control means to control a shifting means so that the magnetic head can be retreated to the prescribed position outside the recording/ reproducing area of the magnetic disk after the rotation of the magnetic disk is started. CONSTITUTION:It is checked whether a counted value exceeds a prescribed time or not, and when it does not arrive at the prescribed time, and interrupting processing is completed. When the time of the prescribed time or above elapses from the time point of a timer clear by a shutter switch 56, first, a magnetic disk 1 is rotated by the driving of a disk motor 33, and by a magnetic head shifting driving control device 35, a magnetic head 2 is shifted up to a home position. It is found by turning on a home position switch 54 that the magnetic head 2 arrives at the home position, and the rotation of a magnetic disk 1 is stopped. Thus, the occurrence of the situation that the mark of the magnetic head 2 is left on the magnetic disk 1 can be avoided beforehand.
