The invention relates to a moulded profiled refractory element for the internal lining of furnaces, in particular for lining a glass-melting furnace, this element being constituted by metal oxides and provided, if need be, on its rear surface with a cavity which is capable of being filled with an insulating material. It has on its front face at least one recess 1 which enlarges its surface area and can have diverging 2 and/or rounded 3 lateral walls. Application to melting furnaces, in particular to glass furnaces having improved insulation and a greater reflection surface. <IMAGE>
