Method and device for the simultaneous filling of many cheese moulds with metered amounts of curd by means of a distributing unit 20 formed by a vessel whose bottom is compartmentalised into a plurality of cells 24 corresponding in number and arrangement to the number and arrangement of the moulds 10 to be filled and by vertical tubes 26 connected to the bottom of the said cells and of a tank 18 placed on the distributing unit 20 in order to fill the latter with a metered volume of curd, and whose bottom has at least one opening 34 which can be closed by a shut-off device 38. In order to make it possible for all the cheese moulds to be filled in the same way with curd of uniform quality, the capacity of the tank 18 is much greater than the said metered volume, and the capacity of the said distributing unit 20 is equal to the said metered volume. A volume of curd greater than the said metered volume is kept permanently in the reservoir and the said openings 34 in the bottom of the tank are not closed until the distributor has been completely filled. <IMAGE>
