PURPOSE:To prevent damage and deformation of a separating claw by forming a protecting member integral with the separating claw, which is higher than a claw portion of the separating claw outside the separating claw. CONSTITUTION:The base portion 34-1 of a separating claw 34 is extended on the same plane to form a protecting member 34-2 integral with the claw, which has a contour for covering a claw portion. The contour of the protecting member 34-2 is formed by curved surfaces 34-2b, 34-2c and a straight-line surface 34-2a, so that when a paper feed cassette is attached and detached to and from a paper feed cassette mount portion o a copying apparatus, the contour of the protecting member 34-2 is brought into contact with the upper wall of the interior not to bring the claw portion 34b into contact direct with the cassette mount portion. Accordingly, damage and deformation of the separating claw 34 can be prevented, and a separating effect similar to the prior art can be exhibited.
