PURPOSE:To prevent burning of electrodes themselves and to make it possible to output stabilized, high power laser light, in such a way that the discharge surfaces of the electrodes are not protruded from the surface of electrode holders and the laser light in a resonator does not hit the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Dielectric material is coated on the surface of metal in dielectric electrodes 1. The dielectric electrodes 1 are embedded in an upper electrode holder 2 and a lower electrode holder 3 so as to form unitary bodies. The discharge surfaces of the dielectric electrode 1 are made flush with the surface of the electrode holders 2 and 3. Or the discharge surfaces are made to enter in the electrode holders 2 and 3. Thus the discharge surfaces are not protruded from the surfaces of the electrode holders. Even if high power is injected, the density of discharged electrons becomes high, an exciting area is expanded and laser oscillation is strengthened, laser light does not hit the surface dielectric parts of the dielectric electrodes 1. The discharge is continued under the stable state, and the stabilized high power laser light is outputted. |
