PURPOSE:To construct physically an optical-fiber sensor head with constantly uniform and perfect overall light-distributing characteristic, by connecting a light-transmitting rod to the end surface of an optical-fiber bundle tied up integrally. CONSTITUTION:An end portion composed of 3 optical-fiber bundles 1a-1c tying up a plurality of optical-fiber strands respectively is prepared. A end surface 7 of an light-transmitting rod 4 constructed by encircling a core 5 with a clad layer 6 is connected with an end surface 2 of an end portion 3 of the composite optical-fiber formed in above manner. In the optical-fiber sensor head thus constructed, when a beam of light is irradiated from an open end of the rod 4, this incident beam propagates straight or is reflected to be irradiated uniformly onto the end surface 2 of the composite optical-fiber bundle. Consequently, regardless of any arrangement of each fiber on the fiber end surface 2, the end surface 2 is available for showing constantly uniform light-distributing characteristic. |
