Compounds of the formulae <CHEM> wherein R is H or CH3; R1 is alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; R2 and R'2 are selected from various organic groups; X is CH3, OCH3, OC2H5, Cl or Br; Y and Y' are selected from various organic groups; Z is CH or N; and their agriculturally suitable salts, exhibit potent herbicidal activity. Some also act as plant growth regulants. The compounds may be made by a variety of synthetic routes, e.g. by reacting the appropriately substituted benzenesulfonyl isocyanate with the appropriate aminopyrimidine or aminotriazine. |
