PURPOSE:To form an excellent color image with no color mixing in a fast, simple process by performing entire-surface exposure to wavelength-distributed light transmitted through a toner image on a photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:A charge density layer is formed by single-time image exposure at the boundary between a photoconductive layer 2 and an insulating layer which includes color filters R, B, and G on the photosensitive body which has a color separating function. A latent image is formed on filters B by entire- surface exposure using light transmitted through the filters B, etc., and the image is developed with toner T1 of corresponding color. Then, entire-surface exposure is carried out with wavelength-distributed light L transmitted through the toner T1, etc., and development using toner T2 of corresponding color is performed to superpose the images of the toner particles T1 and T2 one over another at the end part excellently. Similarly, the process is repeated to form an excellent color image which has no color mixing in the fast, image process.
