By means of a frame dowel (1) having a screw nail (2) which is already partially introduced in the use position and projects beyond the dowel (1), the intention is to provide a solution by means of which driving in of the dowel (1) with a nail (2) is simplified and the functional capacity of the two connecting elements is increased without the advantages of the screw nails/frame-dowel connection being thereby disrupted. This is achieved in that the screw nail (2) is configured, in its lower region (7) directed towards the tip (6), as a smooth, threadless nail pin, and the frame dowel (1) is equipped with an upper, first region (a), directed towards the bearing shoulder (12) and of larger diameter, and a further region (b) of smaller diameter in front of its expansion part (c), the thread beginning (11) of the screw pin (2) bearing, in the driving-in position, on the transition region between the larger (a) and smaller (b) diameters of the dowel (1). <IMAGE>
