<p>PURPOSE:To enable effective use of the energy held by a molten metal and to produce a high-grade stainless steel at a low cost by maintaining the sensible heat possessed by the high-temp. molten metal in a high state and subjecting the molten metal to a dephosphorizing treatment then adding an oxide, etc. thereto and subjecting the molten metal to decarburization refining. CONSTITUTION:The valve of LAMBDA is calculated in accordance with the equation II from the component compsn. except the compds. of Fe, Cr, Mn, Co, Mo, and Ni in a flux in the stage of refining the molten iron alloy contg. >=3% chromium by using the flux. Temp. T( deg.K) is determined by the equation I from the logarithm logPO2 of the oxygen partial pressure PO2 of the molten metal in the treatment stage and the value of LAMBDA. After the molten metal is subjected to the dephosphorizing treatment at the temp. T( deg.K), the slag is removed therefrom. The molten metal is then subjected to decarburization refining while the oxide of the required transition metallic component and scrap are added thereto. The energyh for reheating the molten metal is economized by the above- mentioned method.</p> |
