Spring strut for supporting the wheels of a vehicle in relation to a vehicle body, it being proposed to counteract the bending forces or lateral loads acting on the piston rod guide by means of a gas-filled spring arranged in the area of the base of the spring strut. At the same time, a reduction of the friction in the piston rod guide can be obtained so that an improved response of the vehicle suspension is achieved even on slightly uneven ground.
