The invention relates to developments in piecing of rotor spinning machines using a travelling piecing device to thread a seed yarn into the machine and to control backfeed of the prepared yarn end into the rotor and subsequent withdrawal of the seed yarn thereby extracting yarn newly formed in the rotor.
