PURPOSE:To prevent seizure, etc., and to permit continuous rolling at a high speed by preliminarily spraying water with sprayer to a metallic leaf to prevent the breakdown of the oil films of a lubricating oil on rolling rolls at the time of rolling the metallic leaf. CONSTITUTION:The sprayers 16, 17 are disposed between a supply roll 7 and the rolling rolls 8, 8' and the water is supplied via a filter 20 to the rolls. Air is supplied via an air filter 22. The aluminum leaf 6 let off from the supply roll 7 is rolled by the rolling rolls 8, 8' while the water is kept sprayed by the sprayers 16, 17. The breakdown of the oil film of the lubricating oil on the rolling rolls is, therefore, obviated and since rolling is executed via the oil films, the generation of the seizure and herringbone marks is obviated and the continuous rolling operation at the high speed is executed.
