PURPOSE:To prevent color misregistration from occurring due to skewing of a recording paper, by supporting an end of a recording head so that the head can be turned along a recording surface of a recording paper, detecting a relative positional error of the paper and the head, and turning a supporting means according to a position correction signal. CONSTITUTION:When recording images, control patterns 53a, 53b are read by reading sensors 341, 34b, and a relative inclination of a recording paper 10 and a recording head 31 is detected. When the recording paper 10 is inclined upward on the left side and the forward movement of the paper 10 is delayed on the side of the sensor 34b, a signal S3 from the sensor 34b is delayed beyond a reference signal S2 by a width A. A signal S4 indicating a feed quantity is formed from the signals S2, S3, and a correction signal S5 obtained by ANDing the signal S4 with a reference pulse signal S1 is applied to a pulse motor 52, threby pressing a block 43.
