NEW MATERIAL:A compound (salt) shown by formula I (n is 0, 1 or 2; Y is cyano, lower acyl, lower alkylthiocarbamoyl, tetrazolyl, benzothiazole or thiadiazole). EXAMPLE:2alpha-Methyl-2beta-(1-methyl-5-tetrazolyl)thiomethylpenam-3al pha-carboxylic acid 1,1-dioxide sodium salt. USE:An antibacterial agent having an inhibitory action on beta-lactamase. PREPARATION:For example, a penicillin derivative shown by formula II (X is Cl or Br; R is penicilincarboxyl protecting group) is reacted with a mercapto compound shown by formula HSY, oxidized with m-chloroperbenzoic acid, etc., to give a dioxide compound and then this compound is hydrolyzed with a carboxylic ester to give a compound shown by formula I. |
