PURPOSE:To obtain a compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for monomers of heat-resistant polymers and agricultural chemicals and medicines in high yield and selectivity, by reacting a fluorine-substituted aromatic halide with carbon monoxide and aromatic hydroxy compound. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-substituted aromatic halide, e.g. benzene derivative, in which both fluorine and a halogen, e.g. Br or I, different from the fluorine are directly linked to the aromatic ring is reacted with carbon monoxide and an aromatic hydroxy compound, e.g. phenol, in the coexistence of a nickel catalyst and a base, e.g. tri-n-butylamine, at 100-300 deg.C under 5-300kg/cm<2> pressure to afford the aimed substance. A phosphine compound is, as necessary, added to carry out the reaction. |
