PURPOSE:To display an outline of the whole contents which have been recorded in a recording medium, on a screen without providing a special buffer, by constituting the titled device so that a reproducing head scans successively plural tracks of the recording medium, when a search command is received, and signals of plural tracks, which are outputted from the reproducing head are recorded in a sound storage memory. CONSTITUTION:When a keyboard of a keyboard input device 22 is operated by a search command, first of all, a switching circuit 13 and 17 become a state that they have been switched from a switching terminal (a) side to a switching terminal (b) side. In this state, a reproducing head 1 is made to scan all tracks of a magnetic disk 2 by a prescribed sequence. While its scan is being executed, a signal outputted from the reproducing head 1 is brought to a de-emphasis by a de-emphasis circuit 10, and thereafter, inputted to a sample holding circuit 21, and thinned out by the sample holding circuit 21. An output of the sample holding circuit 21 is inputted to an A/D converting circuit 14 through the switching circuit 13, converted to a digital signal therein and stored in a voice storage memory 15.
