PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance by employing chrome-molybdenum steel applied with high concentration cementation and high frequency hardening/ tempering as the material for the pulleys while employing an iron base sintered alloy as the material for the elements or blocks constituting a belt. CONSTITUTION:A metallic belt 30 for transmitting the power is entrained about the input and output pulleys 10, 20 comprising the movable pulleys 12, 22 and the fixed pulleys 14, 24 respectively. In such a transmission, the pulleys 12, 22 are made of chrome-molybdenum steel applied with high concentration cementation (C.P.=1.0-1.3) and high frequency hardening/tempering so as to have the surface hardness Hv higher than 750 and the hardening depth deeper than 0.1mm. The blocks 50 constituting the belt 30 is made of iron base sintered alloy having the surface hardness of the base material Hv in the range of 650-850. Consequently, the abrasion resistance of the pulleys 12, 22 and the blocks 50 can be improved.
