PURPOSE:To improve an S/N by decreasing an ultrasonic wave propagated through a vessel wall by deforming elastically the surface of vessel wall where a detecting device is allowed to contact with it, in a method for detecting a liquid in an elastic vessel. CONSTITUTION:A pipe-shaped or cylindrical vessel 10 made of relatively pliable material such as vinyl chloride, rubber is pushed into a measuring part composed of a base 3, clipping arms 1, 2 and ultrasonic transmitting and receiving devices 4, 5. Since a space (d) between both arms 1, 2 is set small comparing with a diameter D of the vessel 10, the pushed-in vessel 10 is deformed elastically, the devices 4, 5 are tightly adhered to the wall surface of the vessel 10, and the adhered surfaces become parallel with each other. If ultrasonic wave is transmitted from the device 4 under this state, the ultrasonic wave passes through wall surfaces 11, 12 and reaches the device 5, and the presence or absence of the liquid in the vessel 10 is detected. At this time, since an unnecessary component reaching the device 5 through the circumferential wall of the device 10 becomes small, the S/N can be improved. |
